PETITION:Eliminate purple drops from locked chests or decrease lockpick costs
Lets face it! When a lockpick sells back to a merchant for 750g, there are very few golds worth risking the pick over, let alone purples with guaranteed, imperfect, subpar stats. No single component that could be salvaged off a chest-dropped-weapon is worth 750g! There are plenty of imperfect gold drops as-is.
All this makes getting a purple drop and losing a lockpick an insult.
I like lockpicks and their reusability possibility.
I like hard mode. I like GW:EN.
BUT PURPLE DROPS FROM LOCKED CHESTS HAVE TO GO!!!!
pretty please?

Sorry about the title of this post. I've been up playing GW:EN through the night and can't type a coherent sentence I'm so tired right now.

It's a random drop chance, part of the game.. all i could say is make HM purples lower drop rate and gold higher. But to be fair enough people farm that anyway

Opened 67 chests this weekend not incl the free dungeon chests and the drop rate for purples was about 60-70% Even if I got a crap gold at least I got to ID it and get a point for a title, but purple! The best it can offer is 14^50 yay for some lucky hero or beginner.

/signed... for a bit less grape drops
as much as i have gotten my above fair share of grapes added with my supposedly 58% retain ( i lose more then half of them first try) but thats the point the risk, i would love for them to lower the risk, as unids are around 700g ea now, 2 lockpicks, but you have the chance to get good waepons, rar chance still a chance.

If purples drop when you use a lockpick only real use for them is working on your lucky/unlucky tracks. IMO if you pay extra for the pick, you should get a gaurnteed gold, cause chances are you'll get a worthless skin anyways.

With max lucky and treasure hunting ranks, you actually earn more than you spend. EVEN WITH PURPLES.
So ... why to?

Needs to be repeated.
People, you're not going to be guaranteed maxed gold, or even any gold. In any way. Ever. That's just one of the risks you run when you start opening chests instead of selling off your expensive, high-end keys.

i've gotten so many grapes this weekend its not even funny. it sucks to go on a dungeon crawl and spend 15k on lockpicks only to come back with enough grapes to replace only one broken lockpick!

The non-seguiter here is that the expensive, high-end keys don't yield a treasure of comparable worth. Not that I think they should every time. I agree there should be variety and risk with lockpicks but the ratios need to be balanced a little better. I can sell maybe 1 in 500 chest drops for enough gold to replace the 750g I lost when the pick broke. Mind you that's only if I can find a player that will pay. NO NPC will ever pay me enough for me to recoup my costs, so the odds there are 0 in infinity.
There are gold drops that sell for 400+ gold. Why not drop the price of lockpicks into that neighborhood?
Just even it up more!
AS IS I NEVER BUY PICKS. I only get one when I loot it, and even then I only rarely use one because I have to pay to do so (meaning I subtract the merchant price of the chest drop from 750g and essentially lose that number of gold by losing the pick).

I say make it so the color of the drop you get from a chest also helps your lucky/unlucky title. A gold drop would give 50 points to the lucky title and a purple would give 5 to the unlucky. It would make getting a purple drop a little easyer to deal with cause it'd be helping the titles.
